Power NapsPower naps are short naps, often between 15 and 30 minutes, that are intended to recharge you in a short period of time. Power naps do not replace the need for sleep, but can provide you with additional rest if you have accumulated sleep debt. It is recommended that these naps not exceed 30 minutes, as that is the point when individuals are prone to enter deep sleep states. After this point, waking suddenly can actually make you feel more tired. There is some scientific uncertainty surrounding the effectiveness of power naps. The state of Victoria in Australia advises drivers to take power naps to cut down on fatigue and reduce the risk of accidents. However, a recent study by NASA found that power naps can improve memory, but they did not find any change in alertness.
